About
Aldís Inga
Richardsdóttir
Glass is the only material that remembers fire. Aldís works it while it still glows — shaping darkness and molten light into forms that hold the day once they cool.
Born and raised in Reykjavík, Aldís trained for two years in glassblowing in Sweden's glasriket — the Kingdom of Crystal — where the craft has been practiced without interruption for centuries. She is now completing a further degree in the discipline.
Her work leans to the artistic side of glass: sculptural vessels, engraved creatures, cane-work and forms caught mid-motion. She studied under a respected master at one of Reykjavík's few hot shops, and is today one of only a handful of glassblowers keeping a furnace lit in Iceland.
